A final 2013-2014 school year note to Atid families

Wow! It’s hard to believe another successful MWJDS school year has gone by!
This afternoon as I said goodbye to the kids, I told the 5th graders that they were now 6th graders, the 6th graders that they were now 7th graders, and the 7th graders they were now 8th graders (and that at this time next year would be high schoolers… eek… and I’d probably be crying a little bit).
As I told them this afternoon, I could not possibly be more proud of each and every one of them. They have all worked so hard, and have come so far. They have welcomed new friends (who we are extremely lucky to have), had their writing published in The Jewish Advocate, were written up in The Framingham Patch and The MetroWest Daily News for their sense of justice, and of course they have appeared in many mini-moments for all that they have done. They were the first in the country to receive the Dyson Foundation engineering kit grant, made some awesome robots,  invented some truly revolutionary products, dissected brains, traveled back in time (and around Boston and NYC) to learn about their own family history and about various decades of the 20th century, defied gravity (in the spatial orientation lab, and then again at Canobie), visited colleges, brought laughter and smiles to the elderly, and so much more. I cannot wait for another even more exciting year next year!

This afternoon, many students asked me to send them pictures from today’s trip, and also to send them the superlatives/ notes they got in our closing meeting the other day (the print was extremely tiny on the mini trophies). Please have them check the blog post below for today’s pictures, and their MWJDS emails (I know they do not all do this regularly) for their superlatives and notes.
Please also ask your students about their summer work assignments while it’s fresh in their minds. They have 2 copies of the directions sheet, and the assignment is also on Edmodo. With the exception of next week and the week after, I will be available via email all summer long if you or your children have any questions or concerns (or just want to say hi!).

I wish you all a fun and relaxing summer, and I cannot thank you all enough for all of your unconditional support of our very special little Middle School. This year wouldn’t have been such a success without all of your homework help, field trip chaperoning, family history research, attendance at our many Middle School events, and everything else you have done to support us this year. Thank you, thank you, thank you, we love you!

HAPPY SUMMER!!!

Our tikkun leil

On Shavuot it is customary to stay up all night and study Torah, and to eat dairy foods.
In Atid, we did just that. Here are some pictures from our pajama ice cream and learning party.
